About Our Business
After restoring Classic Chevelle's and Monte Carlo's over the past 15 years, my
father and I began to turn our eyes to 50's style Fords and Chevy's. Have
grown tired of misaligned fender to hood, gaps, we turned our attention to the
hinge itself.
As we began to experiment with swap meet hinges that were found, we
discovered that most, if not all were worn out in the rivets themselves, after
removing the spring. A Google search found no source for NOS or
replacement rivets, and only a hand full of companies that do repair to them.
My father being a trained and certified machinist for over 45 years, knew he
could machine new rivets, a little over-sized to fit the bill. Word spread locally
of our new venture, and people started getting in touch with us, needing the
same service.
Now having a drill press for removing the sloppy rivets, a tank to remove all dirt
and grease, and a standing media blaster, to get down to original metal,
allows us to mike or enlarge the rivet holes. Then machine new fine quality
rivets, one by one, to a high degree of accuracy, within .0005. They are then
pressed in, on our shop press, with a tool designed by my father, to a better
than reproduction tightness.
The hinges can be then gone through their final prep, then dipped with
Acetone, and either returned to you, or Powder Coated to your specs. Powder
Coat is more durable than paint, and is highly resistant to rust. The best part
is Powder Coating looks fantastic!
Let us help you keep your old original hood hinges and avoid the non- fitting
reproduction hinges on the market.
